ADL Embedded Solutions presents three new single-board computers at embedded world
The well-established embedded world exhibition has added a new chapter in its successful growth story this
year: 1,117 exhibitors, occupying 8% more space, welcomed more than 31,000 trade visitors at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg.
ADL Embedded Solutions, a leading German provider of robust industrial embedded computers and processor boards, has showcased innovative technology at this industry event for nearly a decade and has celebrated many product launches and major announcements there. This year, the company focused on upcoming Intel Atom and Core processors.
ADL announced two brand-new single-board computers (SBC) for industrial use, ADLE3900SEC and ADLE3900HD. A standout feature for these products is Intel's latest SoC (System on Chip), an Atom E3900 processor, which offers almost double the computing power of the processor cores and approximately three times the graphics performance compared to the previous E3800 generation. Further new user benefits include additional PCI Express Lanes and more USB 3.0 interfaces. With such resources, the platform is well equipped for a variety of industrial applications. A product life of 15 years is another great advantage, as users of ADL systems based on the E3800 SoC already know and have come to appreciate.
At the 2018 show, ADL announced the compact ADL120S embedded board, which provides ample processing power to meet demanding requirements as well as very high mass storage IOPS performance. This year, there are further enhancements to this line. The ADL120S has a footprint of only 120x120 mm. It is designed in particular for AI applications (robotics, UAV), industrial image and video processing (vision), and embedded end servers (HPC, HPEC) in harsh environments. ADL announced various upcoming innovations for 2019 with this form factor, such as mass storage based on NVME (PCI Express) and faster network speeds at 2.5 and 10 Gbit/s. In addition, Intel's ninth generation of Core processors will greatly increase efficiency and thereby enable many additional applications.

Together with technology partner secunet Security Networks AG, ADL also presented a ready-to-go security solution in hardware and software that is already available today: "secunet(edge" is designed for IoT, IIoT, and AIoT scenarios. Visitors at the trade show took a particularly keen interest in the implementation of leading security standards, which secunet provides for both industrial automation (ISA99/IEC 62443) and the requirements of governments, government agencies, and the military.
