Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG and ADL Embedded Solutions GmbH Germany would like to thank all visitors to our booth 1-554 at this year's Embedded World trade show!

The numerous visits from interested parties, customers, partners and suppliers have contributed to making our participation in the fair a success.

 

 

The entire value chain for embedded system technologies

At embedded world 2020, the international meeting place for the industry, more than 900 exhibitors from 42 countries presented the entire value chain for embedded system technologies this year. The embedded world Conference and the electronic displays Conference convinced with expert knowledge at a high level. Over 1,500 participants and speakers from 46 countries came to the knowledge tanks of the industry. Under the title "Connecting Embedded Intelligence", the main focus was on the tension between the huge amounts of data that can be obtained through all-encompassing networking and the question of how they can be sent to the cloud and processed. The main focus was therefore also on the security of electronic systems, distributed intelligence, the Internet of Things and the topics E-Mobility and energy efficiency. The range of products and services offered ranged from software and hardware, tools, services and systems to system and application software. Solutions in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) represented another central topic: Here the focus was particularly on application areas and potentials.

 

Short term cancellations due to coronavirus

With reference to the spread of the coronavirus, about 200 companies had withdrawn their participation at short notice with regret. At around 13,800, the number of visitors was significantly lower than in previous years. "In recent years, we have been able to report increasing visitor numbers year after year at the end of the exhibition," says Thomas Preutenborbeck, Member of the Management Board, NürnbergMesse. "Unfortunately, this is not possible for us this year. The discussion about exhibitor cancellations and the coronavirus has unsettled numerous exhibitors and visitors all over the world and had a strong impact on embedded world". From NürnbergMesse's point of view, the international exhibition this year therefore painted an ambivalent picture. "On the one hand we received news from exhibitors who assessed the course of the exhibition as rather unsatisfactory for themselves, and on the other hand there was a positive response from companies who were able to hold many valuable discussions during the three days," says Preutenborbeck. "In the end more than 900 exhibitors and thousands of visitors came to Nürnberg. We would like to thank them for this and of course we missed all those who did not come or could not come.

XPlanar: flying motion for intelligent product transport

With XPlanar, Beckhoff shows a transport system that sets new benchmarks: free-floating planar movers move jerk-free and without contact at up to 4 m/s over planar tiles arranged in an arbitrary layout. Travelling magnetic fields provide for exact and highlydynamic positioning. The result: maximum freedom in product transport, maximum flexibility in positioning and optimized machine and plant design.

EtherCAT G: ultimate I/O speed with up to 10,000 Mbit/s

Beckhoff presents a fieldbus solution designed for high-performance machines and highly complex applications: EtherCAT G. Building on the principle of the successful EtherCAT technology, it makes speeds of 1 Gbit/s or 10 Gbit/s available. Both performance levels can be used as system-compliant supplements to the EtherCAT technology. For this purpose, the branch concept enables the integration of 100 Mbit/s EtherCAT segments and reduces the propagation delay times in large networks through parallel processing of the segments.

High-end measurement technology at a low channel cost

With the EtherCAT measurement modules from the ELM series, Beckhoff is presenting high-performance measurement technology that integrates itself directly into the control system. The ELM modules are extremely accurate, fast, robust and support a wide range of applications in industrial measurement technology that could previously only be implemented with expensive special devices.

TwinCAT/BSD: Operating system for Industrial PCs
Supports both 32- and 64-bit platforms
An alternative operating system – TwinCAT/BSD – will be available for all Beckhoff Industrial PC platforms. TwinCAT/BSD combines the TwinCAT runtime with FreeBSD, an industrially tested and reliable open source operating system.

For many years, Windows CE was the basic operating system for all Beckhoff Industrial PCs. With the foreseeable end of Windows CE, Beckhoff is presenting at an early stage a successor that combines the advantages of Windows CE – inexpensive use on all platforms – with the advantages of the large Windows systems. In addition to a successor to Windows CE, Beckhoff thus also offers an alternative to Windows 7 and Windows 10.

C6017: Fanless Ultra-compact Industrial PC
The most compact and affordable Beckhoff IPC

The series of ultra-compact Industrial PCs that was launched with the C6015 has been highly successfully positioned in the market because of its flexible application possibilities. The C6017 multi-core device offers further optional interfaces (up to 2 x RJ45, 2 x USB 2.0), an optional 1-second UPS, or a combination of additional interfaces and 1-second UPS, all in a housing that still measures only 82mm x 82mm x 66mm.

With universal multi-core support, the C6017 can be used simultaneously for high-performance automation, visualisation and communication applications. Flexible installation options of the PC with virtually free orientation of the connection level allow for various installation scenarios, even in the smallest of spaces.

C6025: Fanless Ultra-compact Industrial PC
For demanding control applications which the aspect of Green IT

The C6025 ultra-compact Industrial PC is designed as a fanless device and offers the high Intel® Core™ i computing power despite its small dimensions of 82 x 127 x 40 mm. The Intel® Core™ i U processors with up to four processor cores form the basis for this, because despite their Core™ i properties their power consumption is much lower compared with the other processors from the series. Combined with the modern cooling concept, the power losses associated with the high computing performance can be dissipated entirely passively – via a one-sided cooling surface, making the C6025 suitable for a temperature range of up to 50 °C. Within the C60xx series, it combines the C6015’s compactness and lack of a fan with the high performance of the C6030 and thus ideally closes the previous gap in the Beckhoff PC portfolio in an ideal way.

C6032: Ultra-compact Industrial PC
For high computing performance requirements
The C6032 Industrial PC extends the range of ultra-compact Industrial PCs by a high-performance modular device. The C6032 adds a further circuit board level to the C6030 single-board Industrial PC for accommodation of modular interface and function extensions. With the use of compact PCIe modules the C6032 can be adapted perfectly to the requirement profile of the application. Through the use of Intel® Core™ i processors of the 6th and 7th Generation, the C6032 is prepared for extensive axis controls, complex HMI applications, extremely short cycle times or the handling of large data volumes. CX2000 (CX2033 / CX2043):
New with AMD Ryzen™ V CPU

With the CX20x3 basic modules, Beckhoff is presenting new IPC high performers with AMD Ryzen V1000 CPU. Up to four modules can be connected and up to two CFast cards or SSD modules can be used.

The CX2043 has an AMD Ryzen™ V1807B CPU with 3.35 GHz and 4 cores. Due to its high power, the CX2043 has a fan with ball bearings and speed monitoring. The basic configuration of the CX2033 includes two independent Gbit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 3.0 interfaces and a DVI-D interface.

The CX2033 has an AMD Ryzen™ V1202B CPU with 2.3 GHz and 2 cores, the controller is fanless and has no rotating components. The basic configuration of the CX2033 includes two independent Gbit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 3.0 interfaces and a DVI-D interface.
