L-Peripheral Overview

The ADL L-Peripheral board is designed for convenient expansion of the ADL SEC formfactor SBC via its Edge-Connect architecture. The actual ADLE3800SEC plus ADL L-Peripheral Board combined provide a complete 3.5" SBC solution with a host of expanded features including M.2 PCIe, SATA, DVI/HDMI, USB 3.0, UPS option and more.

The biggest advantage of the ADL L-Peripheral Boards over traditional SBC or COM setups:

During the change of the main CPU (ADLSEC formfactor) the whole peripheral design stays untouched. A quick and easy migration to the next CPU Generation is ensured by the fixed Pinout of the ADL Edge Connect.

CONNECTOR BAseCon 140 Pin
HIGHSPEED INTERFACE 2x PCIe x1 Lane
USB INTERFACE 2x USB 2.0
STORAGE INTERFACE 2x SATA 3 Gb/s
OTHERS PWR-BTN, Reset, SM-Bus
DIMENSIONS 3.5" SBC Footprint: 145mm x 102mm (5.7" x 4.0")

L-Peripheral Evolution

Shown at left is the empty ADL L-Peripheral base that can be equipped with any project required I/O as a full costum design. ADL Embedded Solutions offers one predefined L-Peripheral board ADLSEC-1710 as shown in the middle. Pictured on the right are the existing expansions and adapters (like ADL1001 M.2-to-mPCIe or S-UPS-Modul).

Inspired by the ADL-1710, Hardware Designers can choose out of the following existing features:

  • 55 Watt DC/DC PSU
  • S-UPS-Option
  • M.2 Socket (PCI-Express and USB 2.0 based)
  • output Option (Displayport or HDMI or USB3.0)
  • SATA Option (max. 3Gb/s)
  • GPIO (8/16bit), no Interrupt
  • RTC-Battery 3V CR2032 Socket
  • System Fan-Connector

  • (other features are available on costum design request, MOQ 500+).

L-Peripheral Applications

This actual ADLE3800SEC Host-CPU SBC is an ultra-compact 75mm x 75mm form factor.
Designed as a full-featured, standalone board for a wide range of industrial embedded applications.
The Edge-Connect architecture allows for added I/O expansion and connectors in a variety of baseboard/breakout board configurations
(flat, vertical, odd-shapes, etc.) for applications including:

• UAV and UUV Unmanned Systems
• Industrial Control Systems
• Government & Defense
• Video Surveillance
• Small Scale Robotics
• Remote Datalogging
• Man-Wearable Computing
• Factory 4.0, IoT, or Cloud Applications

A common Expansion-Board-form factor actual is designed by ADL and named "L-Peripheral".
It's used in the next generation of upcoming ADL EPC-Series (like the ADLEPC1600E).
The ADL L-Peripheral is easy to integrate and gives the flexibility to design your own matching expansion board
a vayst choice of common industrial connectivities like GbLAN, SATA or M.2 (PCIe and/or AHCI) sockets.
